DUTIES OF CARE
GROUP LEADERS
Morningside Baptist Church
The primary
task of the care group leader in a youth or adult class is to minister to the
members of his group by maintaining regular contact with them.
The group will be made up of 4 - 7 class members assigned to the care,
ministry, and leadership of a care group leader.
The care
group leader will be a born again believer in Jesus Christ, and an active member
of the Sunday School class. The
care group leader should be regular in attendance and willing to be submissive
to the leadership of his outreach leader and teacher.
The specific responsibilities of the
care group leader are as follows:
Visit in the home of each group member. Find out all you can about the group member. Ask him to share his personal testimony, and share yours with him. Ask about needs in the person's life. Ask how you can pray for him.
Pray daily for your group members. Bring their needs to God and ask God to give you a heart full of love for that person.
Contact every group member every week. Through either a visit, phone call, or card, communicate with your group members weekly. Thank them for their attendance, or encourage them to come. Tell them you are praying for them. Love them where they hurt.
Vary your method of contact. Do not call every week, do not send a card every week, and do not visit every week. Use variety in your method and your message.
Tell your group members about special events such as revivals, guest preachers, or high attendance emphases
Communicate. Call your outreach leader every Saturday, and tell him about your contacts with you group members that week. Tell him how many group members you expect in attendance on Sunday. Also, tell your teacher or outreach leader about crises or special needs in your group members' lives.
Attend. Attend class social functions and any planning meetings your teacher or outreach leader may have. Also, attend training events offered for care group leaders.
